What counts as an emergency

Do not wait with these.

Severe toothache

Pain not relieved by painkillers, keeping you awake, worsened by chewing or hot/cold — usually pulp inflammation; early root canal treatment saves the tooth.

Gum or facial swelling (abscess)

An abscess does not heal on its own; antibiotics only slow the spread. If swelling reaches the eye or neck or fever appears, do not delay.

Knocked-out or broken tooth

For a fully avulsed adult tooth the first 30–60 minutes are critical — follow the first-aid steps below and contact us immediately.

Broken filling, crown or veneer

Exposed tooth structure becomes sensitive and decay-prone. Keep the fragment; it can sometimes be re-bonded.

Bleeding after extraction

Bleeding that does not stop with pressure, or severe pain starting 2–3 days after extraction (dry socket), needs assessment.

Orthodontic emergency

A poking wire or detached attachment — protect with orthodontic wax and book an appointment.

Trauma first aid

If a tooth is knocked out, the first hour decides.

Adult tooth fully knocked out: hold it by the crown, never the root; do not scrub. If dirty, rinse briefly in milk or saline. If possible, gently reinsert it and bite on clean gauze; otherwise carry it in milk or saline — never dry. Teeth reinserted within the first hour have a markedly better chance.

A baby tooth is never reinserted — it can damage the permanent tooth bud. Keep it and bring your child for an examination.

Broken tooth: keep the fragment in milk or saline; re-bonding is sometimes possible. Cover a sharp edge with dental wax.

My toothache started at night or on a Sunday — what should I do?

Message us on WhatsApp; we respond first thing at the start of working hours. To get through the night: cold compress, keep your head elevated, a painkiller recommended by a doctor. With facial swelling, fever or difficulty swallowing go to a hospital emergency department without waiting.

Do you charge for an emergency examination?

The first consultation is free. Any treatment needed is quoted in writing before it is performed; nothing is done without your approval.

Will antibiotics cure a dental abscess?

No — antibiotics limit the spread but do not treat the source. The lasting solution is root canal treatment, periodontal treatment or extraction where necessary. Do not start antibiotics on your own.

Depending on clinical findings, same-day priority is given; sending a photo via WhatsApp before you set off lets us plan precisely.
