Instead of conventional impression material, the iTero digital scanner produces a three-dimensional model of your mouth in a few minutes. A digital simulation of the treatment is prepared on that model: you see step by step how your teeth will move and what the result will be before treatment begins. Once approved, your custom aligner series is produced.

Where it works well

It works well for mild to moderate crowding, gaps between teeth (diastema), mild bite problems and orthodontic relapse (drifting after earlier treatment). It is the first choice for adults who want invisible treatment.

Where it has limits

For advanced skeletal problems, severe crowding and impacted teeth, conventional braces give a more controlled result. Which method suits is settled by an orthodontic examination and the iTero analysis — an “aligners for everyone” approach is not sound.

How many hours a day are they worn?
