Our Founding Clinician — Prof. Dr. Semih Özbayrak
Prof. Dr. Semih ÖZBAYRAK was born in Antakya in 1946. In Istanbul he attended Şair Nedim primary school in Beşiktaş and the Austrian High School middle school, and completed Atatürk High School in Ankara. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Istanbul University in 1972.
Between 1973 and 1975 he worked as a dentist at the Medico-Social centre of Ankara University and during his military service.
In 1975 he began working as a dentist in various practices in Germany.
In 1980 he took up a research post in the Department of Oral Medicine, Radiology and Diagnosis at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Free University of Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin).
In 1983 he completed his doctorate on “Melanosis of the oral mucosa in smokers”.
In 1984 he moved to the Department of Oral Surgery at the same faculty.
In 1985 he left the Faculty of Dentistry and continued as a voluntary observer at the Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Reconstruction clinic of the same university’s Faculty of Medicine.
In 1986 he took up a post in the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry of Marmara University.
He became an Associate Professor in 1988 and a Professor in 1995, and retired in October 2013.
He founded GC Clinic in 1985, and from 1986 to 2013 served for 27 years as Head of the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry of Marmara University.
Prof. Dr. Özbayrak no longer treats patients or carries out clinical procedures. As the founding clinician of our practice he continues in an academic advisory role; the clinic he founded has now served to the same standard for two generations, under the clinical directorship of Specialist Dentist G. Cansu Öztürk, his student and the colleague he mentored through her specialist training.

G. Cansu Öztürk
Born in İzmir in 1988, Cansu Öztürk graduated from 60. Yıl Anadolu High School in 2005 and from the Faculty of Dentistry at Ege University in 2010. Between 2012 and 2016 she completed her specialist programme in the Department of Endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry of Marmara University.
Since 2016 she has continued her academic career as a lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry of Yeni Yüzyıl University. Alongside endodontics, her field of specialism, Cansu Öztürk works in cosmetic dentistry, vital and non-vital whitening, implant-supported prostheses and bruxism treatment, and also carries out academic research into the use of stem cells and probiotics in dentistry.
A member of organisations including the Turkish Endodontic Society, the European Society of Endodontology and the American Association of Endodontists, she has published numerous papers at national and international congresses.

Zerrin Engin Bakkal
Dr Zerrin Engin Bakkal is a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry at Marmara University and has been in continuous clinical practice since 1995. She joined the GC Clinic team in 2024.
Her clinical focus is restorative dentistry (fillings, inlays and onlays, crowns), cosmetic bonding, preventive care and gum health; she carries out check-ups and maintenance protocols. Close to thirty years of experience means accuracy in diagnosis and avoiding unnecessary treatment.
