From the first consultation through every appointment to the final check, your case is the responsibility of a single clinician. There is no rotation of dentists, no handing the patient on, and no assistant carrying out the work. The clinical decisions made on day one are made by the same clinician who will answer for the outcome years later.
We deliberately keep our case numbers limited and take care to give every patient the time they need. We allow about an hour for the first consultation and set the length of treatment by what the patient needs, not by the diary.
For all implant work we use only Straumann (Switzerland) and Nobel Biocare (Sweden/USA). For cosmetic work, IPS e.max and Ivoclar. The brand and lot number of every component is recorded in writing in your treatment file.
At GC Clinic your treatment is carried out by one of two clinicians: our owner and Clinical Director, Dr G. Cansu Öztürk, and our dentist, Dr Zerrin Engin Bakkal. The same clinician looks after you from the first consultation to the final check; cases are not passed between clinicians.
For porcelain veneers only 0.3–0.5 mm of enamel is reduced, which preserves the vitality of the tooth and gives the restoration a long life. We never recommend a full crown in any case where we can achieve the same result with less intervention.
In cosmetic planning the conservative options are considered first: composite bonding, orthodontic alignment, professional whitening and minimum-prep veneers. Extraction and implants are turned to only when a tooth cannot be saved; preserving a tooth that can be saved is a founding principle of endodontic practice.

Dr Cansu assesses you herself in a clinical consultation of about an hour. If you are outside Istanbul, a video consultation is arranged.
At the end of the consultation you are given a written treatment plan setting out the alternatives, the timescales and the total cost.
The length of treatment is set by what your anatomy requires. Afterwards we stay with you through a written 10/5/2/1-year guarantee and 24-hour follow-up on WhatsApp.

He completed his doctorate in Oral Medicine at the Freie Universität Berlin (1983). He headed the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology at Marmara University from 1986 to 2013, becoming an Associate Professor in 1988 and a Professor in 1995. In 1985 he founded our practice in Nişantaşı with his wife, Dr Zümrüt Özbayrak. The questions we are asked most often
With a porcelain veneer only 0.3–0.5 mm of enamel is reduced from the front surface of the tooth; there is no all-round reduction as with a full crown, and the tooth stays vital. In suitable cases a no-prep (prepless) veneer is also possible, with no reduction at all.
If you are offered a plan under the name “veneers” in which every tooth is reduced all round, that is not a veneer but a crown — and you have a right to know the difference. Because our laboratory is inside the clinic, the veneer is designed around your tooth; your tooth is not cut to fit the veneer.

Local anaesthesia is given throughout, so no pain is felt during treatment. Mild tenderness on biting in the first 48 hours afterwards is normal and is easily managed with the medication recommended.
At our clinic every root canal treatment is carried out by a Specialist Endodontist, working under the microscope in complex and retreatment cases. Retreatment carries a 2-year written guarantee.

For mild to moderate crowding, clear aligners offer the advantage of being invisible and comfortable; in advanced and complex cases braces give a more controlled result. The decision is made together following an orthodontic examination and digital analysis.
