Smile Design (Hollywood Smile) in Nişantaşı: A Personal Smile, Digitally Planned

Smile design (the Hollywood Smile) is a cosmetic dentistry process in which the colour, shape and alignment of the teeth and the gum line are planned as a whole to suit your facial features and lip line. At our clinic in Nişantaşı, digital smile design begins with an impression taken using the iTero digital scanner and a smile simulation; the result is seen and approved with a mock-up in your own mouth before treatment begins.

Smile design is not a single material but a planning process: porcelain veneers or e.max veneers, zirconia crowns, teeth whitening, gum contouring and orthodontic alignment are combined as needed around one target smile. The aim is not an artificially bright white but a natural, lasting result that suits your face.

Digital smile design

Digital impressions and simulation with iTero.

Nişantaşı smile design — iTero digital scanner

Instead of conventional impression material, the iTero digital scanner produces a three-dimensional digital model of your mouth in a few minutes. A smile simulation is created on that model, and the intended shape, colour and alignment of the teeth are reviewed together on screen before treatment begins.

Once the digital design is approved, a physical trial is made in the mouth with a composite mock-up — you see your new smile before treatment starts and before any irreversible step is taken. The design and the manufacturing are done in our own laboratory; our boutique model keeps the caseload limited, so each patient’s design gets as much time as it needs. For details, see the laboratory section on our veneers page.

Treatments used in smile design

Options combined around your goal.

Porcelain Veneers / e.max Veneer

Correction of colour, shape and spacing with a thin porcelain shell on the front surface of the tooth. It is the most frequently used component of smile design; for more detail see our veneers page.

Zirconia Crowns

A full-coverage option for cases needing greater strength; usually chosen for back teeth or large restorations.

Teeth Whitening

Lightening the natural tooth colour; a conservative solution without crowns where only a mild change is needed.

Gum Contouring (Gingivectomy)

Reshaping gum that shows too much when you smile, balancing the proportion of tooth to gum.

Orthodontic Alignment

Correcting crowding or mild misalignment with clear aligners or braces, either before crowns or instead of them.

The process

How does smile design work, step by step?

1

Consultation and facial analysis

Your facial features, lip line and expectations are assessed, and the target smile is defined together.

2

iTero digital scan

A digital impression is taken and the likely result is previewed on screen with a smile simulation.

3

Mock-up (try-in)

The approved design is tried temporarily in your mouth in composite; you make the final decision having seen it.

4

Treatment and review

The chosen treatments (veneers, whitening, gum work and so on) are carried out; the result is covered by a written guarantee.

Who is it for?

When is smile design recommended?

  • Those unhappy with the colour, shape or alignment of their teeth as a whole
  • Those wanting to prepare before a wedding, an important event or being on camera
  • Those wanting to combine several aesthetic needs (colour, shape and gums) in a single plan
  • Those wanting to see the result before treatment begins (digital simulation and mock-up)
Pricing

How is the price of smile design determined?

The price of smile design varies with the treatments included in the plan (porcelain or e.max veneers, zirconia, whitening, gum contouring) and the number of teeth. After the consultation and the digital design, your individual price is given to you as a written quotation.

The price set out in the written quotation stays fixed for the duration of treatment — unless the plan changes, no additional or unexpected charge is made. You see the full cost clearly before you decide.

An important distinction

Are smile design and veneers the same thing?

No. Smile design is the complete process in which the target smile is planned digitally. A veneer is one of the materials most often used within that process. A smile design plan may use veneers, zirconia, whitening and gum contouring on their own or in combination. For more on veneers, see our dental veneers page.

Our clinical philosophy

Not excessive — individual.

In smile design our aim is not a uniform, artificially bright white look but a result that suits your facial features and your natural tooth structure. The planning is carried out by the same clinician from the consultation to the final check, and no permanent step is taken without your approval of the mock-up.

Frequently asked

Common questions about smile design.

What is smile design (the Hollywood Smile)?

It is a complete cosmetic dentistry process in which the colour, shape and alignment of the teeth and the gums are planned digitally to suit your facial features, and tried out with a mock-up before treatment begins.

What is the difference between digital smile design and the classic method?

In digital smile design the simulation is built on a three-dimensional impression taken with the iTero scanner; you see the result on screen and in your own mouth as a mock-up before treatment begins. With the classic method that preview is limited.

Are smile design and veneers the same thing?

No. Smile design is the name of the planning process; a veneer is one of the materials used within it. Depending on the plan, zirconia, whitening or gum contouring may also be included.

How many appointments does smile design take?

Including the consultation, the digital scan, the mock-up and the treatment appointments, it varies with the scope and the treatments chosen; the total is confirmed at the consultation.

Is the mock-up (try-in) stage painful?

No, the mock-up is a temporary and painless try-in; it lets you see the design in your own mouth without any permanent work being done.

What determines the price of smile design?

The price is determined by which treatments (veneers, zirconia, whitening, gum contouring) are included in the plan and by the number of teeth. The total is given to you in writing after the consultation.

Will the result look natural or artificial?

Our aim is a natural result that suits your facial features. We do not favour designs that look artificially bright or uniform; your approval is obtained through the digital simulation and the mock-up.
